Yiwu officials visit Mozambique in search of closer ties

Officials of the eastern Chinese city of Yiwu have visited Mozambique to promote Sino-Mozambican exchanges, the Yiwu authorities say.

The Yiwu city government issued a written statement saying the visit was part of a tour which also took the officials to Zimbabwe and the United Arab Emirates between 7 June and 16 June.

The purpose of the tour was to increase co-operation in the fields of free ports, logistics, trade and industrial parks.

In Mozambique, the party visited Maputo and Beira to get an idea of the environment for business in each place, and inspected shops opened by businessmen from the province of Zhejiang, where Yiwu is situated, the Yiwu city government says.
