JAC Motors to spend US$61 mln on first Brazilian plant

JAC Motors of China will invest nearly 200 million reais (US$61 million) in building its first automobile plant in Brazil, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese state-run news agency quotes the company as saying the plant will be in the central Brazilian state of Goiás and take two years to build.

The report says the plant will have the capacity to make 35,000 vehicles a year and employ about 820 people.

Chinese state-owned JAC Motors entered the Brazilian market in 2009, and it expects its sales there this year to be 40 percent greater than last year, Xinhua says.
