Seminar looks at 45 years of Sino-Brazilian relations

A seminar in Rio de Janeiro has reviewed cooperation by Brazil and the People’s Republic of China since they established diplomatic relations 45 years ago, and discussed the prospects for cooperation in future, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency says the Brazilian Center for International Relations and the Chinese Embassy in Brasilia jointly arranged the seminar, held on Friday.

The report says over 200 Brazilian or Chinese officials, businesspeople and academics attended.

It quotes Chinese Ambassador to Brazil Yang Wanming as telling the gathering that his country is the biggest foreign investor in Brazil, putting its money into farming, mining, energy, infrastructure, telecommunications and manufacturing there, and creating over 40,000 jobs.

Mr Yang called for Brazil and China to keep working together in fields such as technological innovation, telecommunications, e-commerce, artificial intelligence and biotechnology, Xinhua says.
