China pays for new accommodation for doctors in Mozambique

A building containing 32 residences for doctors, built by Chinese builders with Chinese money, has opened in Maputo, Xinhua reports.

Mozambican Health Minister Nazira Abdula and Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique Su Jian attended the opening ceremony, the Chinese government-run news agency says.

Previous reports in the news media said the building cost US$4.9 million, was built by Nantong Construction Group Co. Ltd of China and was meant for Mozambican doctors and other health workers, and for their visiting Chinese counterparts.

The building was the result of a programme of co-operation by China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries, and one of several Sino-Mozambican projects to do with healthcare, the reports said.
