Chinese spend US$19 bln on buying Brazilian companies in 30 months  

Chinese investors spent 60 billion reais (US$19 billion) on acquiring Brazilian companies between the beginning of 2015 and the end of June his year, so supplanting US investors as the biggest foreign players in mergers and acquisitions in Brazil, O Estado de São Paulo reports.

The Brazilian newspaper says Chinese investors put most of their money into the energy industry in Brazil.

The report quotes Brazil-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Charles Tang as saying Chinese intended to invest more in the finance and sanitation industries.

Bank executives believe the Chinese buying spree in Brazil will turn out to be as big this year as it was last year, or even bigger, O Estado de São Paulo says.
