Drive to lure Chinese tourists to Portugal begins

Representatives of Turismo de Portugal and nine Chinese travel agencies have signed agreements to promote Portugal as a place for Chinese to visit, China Radio International reports.

The radio station says the parties to the agreements intend to work together closely to promote holidays in Portugal tailored for Chinese visitors.

Portuguese Secretary of State of Tourism Ana Mendes Godinho is quoted by China Radio International as saying she hopes Chinese will gain a greater understanding of Portugal by visiting.

In addition to the signing of the agreements, a campaign focused on the Portuguese national football team was also launched to promote in the Chinese market the country that was the European champion in 2016, Lusa news agency reported.
