East Timor Minister of Planning and Strategic Investment Xanana Gusmão has praised Mainland China for supporting his country’s development, Lusa reports.
The Portuguese news agency quotes Mr Gusmão as saying: “China is a great power that has a lot to teach countries like mine about its economic miracle and development.”
The report says the former president of East Timor was addressing an audience at Hunan University, where he received an honorary degree.
East Timor and the Mainland China established diplomatic relations 15 years ago when East Timor gained independence, Lusa says.
