The Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, will attend the inauguration of East Timor’s new President, Xinhua reports.
Mr Zhang Ping will represent President Xi Jinping at a ceremony to celebrate the commencement of Francisco Guterres’ presidency, the Government-run news agency says.
The report says Mr Zhang will also attend a ceremony to mark the 15th anniversary of East Timor’s independence, where more than 60 countries will be represented.
Both events will be held in Dili on Friday and Saturday, the Lusa news agency says.
