Representatives of Mozambique and other parts of Africa attended the China-Northeast Asia Expo in the northeastern Chinese city of Changchun this month in the hope of attracting Chinese investment in their countries, Xinhua reports.
The Chinese state-run news agency says representatives of Mozambique, Ethiopia, Kenya and Zambia presented at the show projects they would like Chinese help with – including projects in the cereals, dairy, light manufacturing, machinery and construction industries.
The report quotes an official of the China Investment Promotion Agency, Zhang Yuzhong, as saying: “We can also work to maximise the synergy between China’s Belt and Road initiative and Africa’s industrialisation strategy to benefit businesses from both sides.”
The purpose of the expo, now closed, was to spur co-operation among countries in Northeast Asia and around the globe, Xinhua says.
