Officer says joint Sino-Angolan military exercises in prospect

The leader of a Chinese military delegation visiting Angola says Sino-Angolan defence ties could soon lead to joint exercises, Jornal de Angola reports.

The newspaper quotes Colonel Zhou Heping as saying that such exercises would help the armed forces of both countries improve their techniques.

In August Chinese forces opened their first base on foreign soil, in Djibouti, and they held their first exercises in Africa the following month.
